With Rejsekort as an app, you can travel as an 'Adult', 'Young person', or 'Pensioner'.

When you register your birthdate in the app during setup, the category is selected automatically. Therefore, you don't need to do anything yourself, but you must be able to present proof of your age during inspection.

As an 'Adult', you must be between 26-66 years old.

As a 'Young person', you must be between 18-25 years old.

As a 'Pensioner', you must be 67 years old or older.

During 2025, it will be possible for the following travelers to use the Rejsekort as an app:

- Pensioner for visitation
- Child
- Business
- Disability

During 2025, it will also be possible to add:

- Multiple travelers and pets/bicycle at check-in.

If you have deactivated your profile in Rejsekort as an app, you can reactivate your account within the first 36 months by using the same email address and phone number you used when you first created your account. This way, you will regain access to your data.

According to our Privacy Policy, we store your travel data for 36 months from the registration of the information. You can read our Privacy Policy here:

To use Rejsekort as an app, you must be registered with your personal information. Therefore, it is not possible to travel anonymously with Rejsekort as an app.

So, for now, keep your Rejsekort Anonymous.

There will be a longer transition period where it will still be possible to use Rejsekort as a card. Later, a new solution with physical equipment and cards will become available for those who either do not want to or are unable to use Rejsekort as an app. We will give notice well in advance before any changes to Rejsekort as a card are made.

Requirements for telephone

Operating system requirements:

  • iPhone: You need an iPhone with iOS 15 (or newer).
  • Android: You need a smartphone with Android 8.0 (or newer).

SIM card: You need a functioning SIM card that allows mobile data (the Rejsekort app uses approximately 1 MB per hour).

Battery: Your phone must have enough battery for the entire journey. The app does not use more power than other apps, but there should be enough battery to last until you reach your destination and to show your ticket in case of inspection.

Payment: You must have a valid payment method linked to the app. Currently, only MobilePay is supported, but later, the option to pay with credit cards will be added.

Permissions: You need to grant the app the necessary permissions, including sharing location data. This is required for us to be able to calculate the price of your journey in the most accurate way. You can read more about our Terms for Rejsekort as an app.

You can still use Rejsekort as a card, just as you always have done. We understand that some customers, for various reasons, do not wish to or cannot use Rejsekort as an app. Therefore, we are developing an alternative solution.

Rejsekort as a card will not be phased out until an alternative is in place for those who cannot or do not wish to use the app. We will give notice well in advance before any changes to Rejsekort as a card are made.

In 2025, it will be possible to purchase single tickets and zone tickets on a physical card (as is the case today) or on your payment card. It will be possible to buy and store multiple tickets on the card with a top-up option. The ticket must be activated at a physical stand to be valid.

The new options are:

1. A card where travellers can choose automatic or manual top-up of tickets via a webshop or a sales outlet

2. An anonymous card that can be topped up with tickets at a sales outlet

3. A payment card that can be used to buy zone tickets for short trips. The zone ticket is stored on the payment card

For all three options, tickets must be bought in advance – for example, for a predetermined number of zones or for a predetermined route such as Vejle-Aarhus. The physical card can contain multiple different products at the same time, such as 10 trips in 2 zones, 10 trips between Vejle and Aarhus and 10 trips in 4 zones. Finally, the card can also contain a Commuter Card, which will be linked to a specific traveller.

Location:

Rejsekort as an app needs access to your location data to accurately register your journey.

We record your location in this way: When you open the Rejsekort app while traveling and until shortly after you check out. This ensures that we calculate the price of the journey correctly and that you are checked out at the end of the journey. You can read more about sharing location data under the question "Why do I need to share my location?" at My account and my data | rejsekort.dk.

If you have an iPhone, you must select "Always Allow." When setting up your profile in the Rejsekort app, your iPhone will first suggest "Allow while using the app." Shortly after, you can choose "Always Allow."

If you have an Android phone, under Location, you need to select "Allow while using the app."

Reminder: If you turn off location data during your journey, your ticket is no longer valid, which may result in a fine.

Motion: By using motion data, the app can detect whether you are in motion, walking, or leaving a means of transportation, and it can distinguish between different modes of transport. With motion data enabled, the app can more accurately calculate the correct journey and fare.

Motion data is also required to use the 'Smart Check Out' feature, which helps you if you sometimes forget to swipe to check out.

If you have an iPhone, you must allow the use of your motion and fitness activity.

If you have an Android phone, you must allow Physical Activity.

Notifications: Choose "Enabled" if you want to activate all the app's features. With notifications, the app can send you reminders to check out and provide you with a fare summary of your journey.

Background app refresh: Set to "Enabled" so that the Rejsekort app can continue to track your location if your phone restarts.

Mobile data: Set to "Enabled" so your phone can communicate with the Rejsekort app during your journey to ensure a valid ticket.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: We recommend enabling these to improve the accuracy of your location data.

Battery usage:

Rejsekort as an app requires access to your location data during a trip. The app does this to calculate the correct price for your journey.

The battery usage for Rejsekort as an app has been measured on various phone models and operating systems. On average, Rejsekort as an app uses about 5% the phone's battery per hour. The battery drains faster if other apps/functions are open simultaneously with Rejsekort as an app.

Remember that you are responsible for having a functioning phone with enough battery life throughout your journey. If your phone runs out of power, your ticket is NO LONGER valid.

Data usage:

During a trip, Rejsekort as an app sends and receives approximately 1 MB of data per hour.
