From card to app for adults

From card to app

Yes, there are the following differences to keep in mind when traveling with the Rejsekort-app:

1) You must check in via the app on your phone before boarding the transport, and only check out via the app after you have disembarked.

This is especially important to remember on buses, where with the physical Rejsekort, you could check out before getting off. If you check out with Rejsekort app while still on the bus, before getting off, it may be considered misuse and could result in a fine during inspection.

2) You do not need to check in again when switching between different modes of transport during the same journey.

3) You should only check out when your entire journey is finished. If you forget to check out, it will be done automatically the following night. You can also choose to enable 'Smart Check Out' in your settings.

4) Once you have checked out, your journey is completed, and you will be billed for the completed journey. If you check in again, you will be billed for a new journey. Your journeys are not combined as they are with the physical Rejsekort.

5) You don’t need to top up your Rejsekort – all completed journeys for the day using the Rejsekort app are calculated and paid daily via your linked payment method.

6) In the Rejsekort app, it is the start time of the journey (the departure time of the mode of transport) that determines whether the journey falls within the time period for a time discount - and not the check-in time, as is the case with the physical Rejsekort.

No. The funds from your physical Rejsekort will be transferred to your NemKonto in August as part of the shutdown of the Rejsekort system, and therefore cannot be transferred to the Rejsekort app.

If you have Rejsekort Anonymous, you must request a refund yourself. You can read more about how to do this here.

No, you cannot link your physical Rejsekort to the Rejsekort app. They are two different systems.

Your Commuter Card and your e-wallet from your physical Rejsekort cannot be transferred to the Rejsekort app.

New features

The old Rejsekort system had reached the end of its tecnological lifespan and has therefore been shut down. Using credit cards or the phone's NFC chip for check-in would require significant further development of the system. We have therefore assessed that the benefits for you as a customer do not justify the financial investment and time required to implement such an upgrade.

Solutions like those in London, for example, require physical equipment where the traveller checks in with their credit card.

Our task is to cover all of Denmark across bus, train, metro and Letbane, which we have so far managed with the existing Rejsekort.

There are no other nationwide solutions across all means of transport based solely on credit cards.

It is no longer possible to travel with a physical Rejsekort.

How to dispose of your physical Rejsekort

As a general rule, your Rejsekort must be disposed of in residual waste, both at home and at the recycling station. If you are in doubt, you must follow the waste rules in your municipality. The Rejsekort consist of plastic with a built-in chip that contains metal. The materials cannot be seperated, and therefore the card cannot be sorted as plastic.

No, Self-service is only available for the physical Rejsekort.

You can find all the functions and information about the Rejsekort app directly in the app. Just click on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, and you will see all the options in the menu.
